Face ID is extremely sophisticated technology. To recognize the smartphone owner, particular projector carries on his face a host of invisible points. The result the program converts in three-dimensional image of the head.
To see how this works, you can use the application MeasureKit. In the latest update the developers added a new tool Face Mesh that allows you to observe result of one of the main features of the iPhone X. Mesh Face uses technology Face ID to represent the user’s face in a grid. All information comes from Apple software modules. One of the developers MeasureKit, Rinat Khans, said:
“For drawing of mesh used SceneKit. But all the data concerning the user we receive directly from ARKit”.
Tool Face Mesh is a clear demonstration of how the camera Face ID tracks the user’s face.

The facial recognition system was introduced with the iPhone X on September 12. It is used to unlock the smartphone and make purchases using Apple Pay. Face ID is a full replacement of the fingerprint scanner.
