Sources report that Apple is preparing to release three new iPhone models, one of which will receive a radical new design and the glass case. Another leak claimed that the “Apple” giant intends to equip some versions of the new iPhone curved OLED displays made by Samsung.
Confirmation of these rumors can be the information of the Taiwan resource DigiTimes, Samsung Display which in 2017 will become the exclusive supplier of AMOLED screens for the new iPhone. The publication also became known for the volume of production of Apple smartphones with the organic led display.
Generation iPhone with AMOLED panels are expected to reach 60-70 million units by the end of this year. Per month Samsung may ship up to 20 million displays.
Apple is planning to release a new iPhone with a screen diagonal of 4.7 and 5.5 inches, which will still be equipped with LCD displays, and a model with a 5.8-inch screen, which will get an AMOLED display.
The sources claim that production of a small number of new iPhone will start in March 2017, and the increase of production will occur in may-June.
The order for manufacturing touch sensors will get Japanese Nissha Printing, and the name of the contractor, which will connect the touch sensors with screens, is not yet defined. They can be Samsung Display, TPK Holding or General Interface Solution.
Note that in 2017 will be 10 years since the release of the first-generation iPhone, so many expect that Apple will significantly upgrade the appearance of all or some of the smartphones in the lineup. In particular, the sources mention frameless displays, a built-in screen fingerprint scanner and support for wireless charging technology long-range.
