Apple announces the MacBook Air, released in mid-2012, the list of obsolete and vintage devices 31 Aug. But the company will repair them free until 2020, reports MacRumors.
According to the document, which is intended for the Apple Store and authorized service centers, 31 Aug 2018 11-inch and 13-inch MacBook Air 2012 recognize legacy devices. Typically, this means that Apple should not repair these notebooks, except when required by law. However, the company decided to include MacBook Air in its pilot program, which provides for the repair of old devices subject to availability of parts.
Until August 31, 2020 authorized service centers and the Apple Store should service the MacBook Air 2012. If spare parts are not available, Apple and its partners fails to repair. It is also worth considering that this is a pilot program, therefore, its terms may change at any time.
For the first time in this program was included iMac mid-2011. However, their service is extended until 1 January 2019, and is valid only in the United States and Turkey. The case with MacBook Air 2012 is the first time the initiative works around the world.
