Apple will reduce the thickness of the iPad Pro due to the display with an oxide thin-film transistors

It is no secret that within the walls of Apple is preparing to release an iPad Pro with a screen size of 12.9 inches. Chinese website Feng found some features of the upcoming Apple news.

According to the newspaper, the tablet will be equipped with a display with an oxide thin film transistor (Oxide TFT). Allegedly, this display is thinner displays with transistors of polycrystalline or amorphous silicon and consumes less power.

The main manufacturer of these panels is Sharp, but according to some reports, South Korean manufacturers Samsung and LG have recently also started to increase the production of panels of the Oxide TFT. The highest preference is still to the Japanese manufacturer, with extensive experience in the production of such screens. The panel is likely to find application not only in the iPad Pro, but in other Apple products, including Mac computers.

The initiator of a large tablet is Apple CEO Tim cook, who intends to “breathe new life into the iPad lineup” due to the fact that sales of devices falling for five consecutive quarters. Also the iPad has to compete with phablets from Apple, released last year. In particular, the iPhone 6 Plus with 5.5-inch display has become for many users replace the iPad mini.

It is believed that the announcement of the iPad Pro will be held before the end of 2015, possibly along with updating existing product line. In 2014, iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 were introduced in October.
