Apple has decided to abandon plans to build a data center in Ireland, which Corporation has developed from 2015, as faced numerous lawsuits by local environmental organizations. It is reported 9to5Mac.
The total cost of the project for the construction of the data center in the field of Athenree was about one billion dollars. Apple campus would create about 100 permanent jobs and its construction would need to attract about 300 workers.
Despite the fact that after nearly two years of negotiations with local authorities, the project was approved in October 2017, the Irish environmental organizations have opposed such a decision. In addition to the protests, was filed several lawsuits in court.
Because litigation can take years, representatives of the Corporation took the decision to abandon the construction of a data center in Ireland.
However, Apple will not be left without an important object in Europe. The data center in Denmark, the construction of which was announced in 2017, will be able to assume some of the functions intended for the Irish campus. The new building will be a place for servers, iCloud and the App Store.
