Apple will increase the headcount in Ireland to 6 000 people

After Apple came to Ireland, Intel, IBM, Microsoft and others. According to the source, the number of employees in the Apple office in Cork, which now employs 5,000 people, will increase by mid-2017. Last year, she has grown up – also for one thousand people.

Now most of the workers here are so – called back-office, we have employees that manage the supply of goods, leading of accounting and providing various services. But there is in Ireland and the enterprise, where employees assemble Apple iMac computers.

The company from Cupertino intends to increase its presence in Ireland in anticipation of the decision of the European Commission for tax preferences that were granted to Apple by the Irish authorities. The European regulator last year accused the Corporation in the illegal use of privileges, which allowed it to considerably reduce the tax burden.

It is expected that the European Commission will take a decision on the tax dispute with Apple by the end of this year. In late October, the regulator issued its first ruling on similar cases concerning tax preferences granted to the automaker Fiat in Luxembourg and Starbucks coffee shop chain in the Netherlands. The Commission concluded that the benefits to companies are illegal and each of them is obliged to pay taxes amounting to €20-30 million
