Apple will become the first Music streaming service that will broadcast DJ mixes

Apple has agreed with the company Dubset Media Holdings of obtaining the rights to thousands of exclusive dance and DJ remixes and or mashups, listen to which was restricted due to copyright protection. As conceived by the manufacturer, this step will provide the service an important competitive advantage.

Dubset has license agreements with over 14 000 music labels and publishers. Apple’s participation in this project involves the use of technology MixBank, which analyses musical selections and identifies which tracks were used when creating the mix. The company from Cupertino will be able to run mashups in the air Apple Music, paying royalties to the copyright holders.

According to Billboard, the uniqueness of the technology MixBank is that in the average mix, usually employed from 25 to 30 music tracks that should pay copyright to three dozens of labels and from 2 to 10 publishers. In some cases, a single DJ set may affect the interests of holders of up to 600. The usual process of identification of the source is about a quarter of an hour for 60-minute recording.

MixBank first time in history, will allow the music industry to make DJ mixes. Apple will pay royalties to the copyright owners and the creators of the track, which Dubset shall calculate the percentage of income under the internal licensing.

Meanwhile, it was revealed that producer Joel Thomas Zimmerman, known as deadmau5 will be performing on radio 1 Beats. His show called “Mau5trap Presents” will take place on Saturdays at 01:00 (GMT).
