Under the new rules, the owners of the Apple iPhone with custom displays are entitled to a hardware warranty service if a defect is not to the display. It is reported by MacRumors citing an internal company newsletter.
Earlier copies of the iPhone with screens of third-party companies were not entitled to any free repairs under the warranty policy. Now the Apple stores and authorized service centers will take these smartphones to explore. If the experts confirm the fact of fraud, for such iPhone will be repaired or replaced in accordance with warranty service program. The guarantee will extend only to the original components of the smartphone.
If such an iPhone will be revealed problems related to the display, buyers will offer to pay for the repair at the standard rate. In case of failure of customer’s authorized center should abandon the maintenance of such a device under warranty, according to the Apple mailing list.
Authorized service centers of the Apple, as before, should not service iPhone, the failure of which is caused by the use of third-party aluminum enclosures, motherboards, batteries, Lightning connector, audio jacks, volume buttons, volume switches, power buttons or microphones.
Earlier this week it was reported that Apple will have to open in Russia a full-fledged service center. In accordance with the decision of the FAS the company is required to do this before 1 may. It from authorized centres will be sent the faulty device for repair.
FAS found that actions of the Russian representation Apple contains signs of violation of the provisions of the law on protection of competition by failing to ensure the possibility of using the company’s products during the term of its service. Apple also does not deliver to Russia the necessary repair components — modules screens and the motherboard.
