According to the source, TSMC has received all orders for the production of single-chip system Apple A11, becoming its exclusive manufacturer.
TSMC has received the exclusive contract for the production of chips with 10-nanometer FinFET technology, developed in the factories of the Taiwanese. This will make the new iPad even thinner while maintaining the autonomy parameters. Serial production of chips A11 factory will begin already in 2017.
The first information about the fact that TSMC has started the transfer of production of 10-nanometer processors for Apple, appeared in may of this year. It is reported that the company will be able to start production of trial batches A11 in the second quarter of next year.
TSMC had worked on the processors for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in 2014. A year later the manufacturer had to share with Samsung with orders for the A9 chip. Some tests have shown that processors Taiwanese are less heated and provide greater autonomy of iOS devices.
According to reports, TSMC is already the exclusive manufacturer of Apple’s A10 chip for the iPhone 7, the announcement of which is expected in autumn this year.
