Apple opened to load a new font San Francisco for iOS, OS X, and watchOS 2

Last year specifically for smart watches Apple Watch, Apple has created a new font, which shows notifications on your device screen. Later the company decided to port it to iOS 9 and OS X El Capitan.

The typeface is called San Francisco and has nine design options with different saturation. Up to this point it has only been used on a smart watch and a keyboard 12-inch MacBook, but with the release of the final versions of new software platforms will also appear on iPhone, iPad and Mac.

Apple today posted in San Francisco open access. Font can download developers registered in the Developer Program. In this case, Apple has restricted the ability to use your own font:

“Under the terms of the license agreement, you can use Apple Font exclusively to create or develop applications for products under the brand Apple is working on iOS or OS X. This right includes the possibility of displaying the font in the screenshots, images or mock-UPS of apps that work only on iOS and OS X”.

Previously, experts in the field of design explained the reasons for refusal from Apple Helvetica Neue in favor of San Francisco. According to them, the font is San Francisco “clear and distinct”, it is easier to read than the current Helvetica Neue.

Although Apple has restricted the use of the new font, users have already posted in San Francisco network. You can download it at this link. How to install San Francisco on your iPhone, iPad, and Mac without the use of iOS 9 and OS X El Capitan can be found here and here respectively.
