Apple still offers free replacement battery for MacBook Pro mid 2012 and early 2013, reports MacRumors.
15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display, released in mid 2012 or early 2013, qualify for the battery replacement. This procedure will be free, if you are willing to wait about a month.
Apple has advised the Genius Bar employees and authorized service centers to offer customers free replacement batteries, if they are willing to wait at least November 15.
The delay is continued from August 25 to shortage of aluminum cases for which glued the batteries in the above mentioned MacBook Pro.
To check whether you need MacBook Pro service battery, click the Apple logo in the menu bar. Then click “About this Mac”> “system Report”> “power management”. In the section “Information about the extent of health” in the status bar there should be an inscription “service Required”.
25 July 2017, Apple announced that until September 15 to replace the device with a faulty battery on a new model MacBook Pro. However, now it is only possible to replace the battery for free.
