A few days after the release of patch 11.3 iOS with new music section, Apple has released a new version of the service for Android.
Now in the app store Google Play available app Apple Music 2.4.2 with a new section. It displays all the latest videos, themed playlists from the supervisors of the service and genre collection of music videos.
A new section is found under “Browse” in the same list with the submenu “New music”, “Genres” and so on.
Of course, the clips in the Apple Music was available before, but a separate section for them would definitely help. In addition, the curators of the Corporation now help to choose not only the music but also video. Apple also explicitly agreed with the rights holders and have added many new videos that were previously absent in the service. Prior to this update, all these benefits were available only to owners of iPhone and iPad.
Apple actively promotes Music and Apple is positioning it as the best place to view music videos without ads. Thus the Corporation has positioned itself as a competitor to YouTube.
Apple has long been trying to market movies and other video content. The company hired a lot of key employees from other studios to work on their own projects. Until the end of the year Apple will spend billions of dollars on creating their own TV shows and movies.
