According to the latest rumors, Apple has not yet decided what the fingerprint scanner will be used in the upcoming smartphone iPhone 8, as selected initially, the technology still requires improvement and is not yet used in mass production. An industry insider claims that at the moment the company chooses integrated scanner Touch ID in the screen of the smartphone.
As reported by Cowen and Company analyst Timothy Arcuri, engineers in Cupertino are considering three options for implementation of the technology. The first is to reduce the thickness of the glass in the area of the fingerprint scanner, the second is to create a hole in the front panel for an optical or ultrasonic sensor, and the third is to use a display integrated into the film sensor based on capacitive or infrared technology.
In either case, Apple will not be able to start selling the iPhone 8 before October this year, says Arcuri. According to analyst, the technology will be ready for use in mass production before the end of June. According to the forecast Arcuri, sales of Apple smartphones in the September quarter will be 46 million, which was below the consensus forecast of Wall Street at the level of 47-48 million
Earlier it was reported that Samsung is excited to introduce a new Galaxy Note 8 to the announcement of the iPhone 8. The sources indicate that at the moment, the integration of a fingerprint scanner in the screen beside the South Korean company leads to an imbalance of brightness, when a display area with sensor noticeably brighter than the rest of the screen. The technology will be ready for use in mass production until 2018.
Despite attempts by Samsung to beat Apple with the release of the flagship first are unlikely to achieve a significant effect, as the upcoming announcement of the “Apple” of the new OLED screen and new design already surrounded by a big hype, and the Koreans will not be able to switch the attention of users on the Galaxy Note 8 even his earlier appearance in the sale.
