Apple hired the former head of Amazon Fire TV Timothy D. Twardella to the position of Vice President of marketing Apple TV. This is stated in the press service of supercinski Corporation.
Apple noted that Tverdal joined the company in January this year. In the Apple, according to sources, Twardella invited the Vice-President of iPhone marketing Greg Joswick.
Currently, the Apple TV falls into the category of “other products” — so the Apple refer to the products generating less than 5% of the company’s total revenue. The latest version of this device was released in 2015, while sales of the device declined and in 2015 and 2016. On the contrary, sales of the Amazon Fire TV is ahead of all the competitors in the market of streaming devices in the US.
In early January, edition of the Wall Street Journal reported that Apple intends to enter the market original video content, enlisting in direct competition with Amazon and Netflix. According to sources, by the end of 2017, the movies and TV shows Apple will be available through the Apple Music service.
That Apple has bought TV series Carpool Karaoke with James Korden, became known in July 2016. But now the company is in talks with several producers and it means to expand her ambitions.
On the American market video on demand is now dominated by Amazon and Netflix, already approved by giant library of quality content. However the goal of Apple seems, is competition from music streaming service Spotify. Against the backdrop of slowing sales of Apple gadgets subscription services continue to grow.
