Apple has patented edge-to-edge display and a built-in screen scanner Touch ID

Bureau of patents and trademarks United States registered two Apple patent applications, which will allow the company to create edge-to-edge iPhone screen “edge to edge”. The new development also involves the incorporation into a display panel fingerprint scanner.

Today Apple received a patent for edge-to-edge display and a fingerprint scanner Touch ID built into the screen. Company documents describe the General essence of technology, without going into details of its implementation in practice.

The patent for the display is “edge to edge” describe the technology of “lower part of the screen of the mobile device”. The intent of the engineers of the company, the smartphone should get a display with curved edges that will create a fully frameless device.

The patent observed that the displays in mobile devices can be cumbersome or are surrounded by overly large borders. As a result, it would be desirable to be able to provide improved electronic device screen in the entire front panel or wrap around the body of the gadget.

The second patent application Apple, in fact, completely eliminates the iPhone from a Home button. According to the description of the patent, the Cupertino want to integrate the fingerprint scanner directly into the display, which will allow to “accelerate the authorization process, in particular in the process of performing another task or application on an electronic device.”

How these patents in fact show the upcoming flagship smartphone of Apple, we can learn, likely in September. It is expected that the iPhone 8 will get a display “edge to edge” with a built-in Touch ID sensor. The wait is less and “leak” will be more reliable.
