Apple has not returned to Ireland €13 billion in unpaid taxes within the Commission period

Apple missed the deadline for payment Ireland nedonoshennyh taxes in the amount of €13 billion for illegally provided by the country tax breaks. This was stated by the European Commissioner for competition, Margrethe Vestager.

It’s hard because it’s a big amount of money… of course, you need to figure out how to do it… and I understand that this is a complex issue and its solution may require some more time”, — quotes the words Vestager RNS.

Ireland was to receive the money from Apple until January 3.

“We continue to move forward on the issue of recoveries from Apple and cooperate fully with the company and the European Commission”, — said the representative of the Ministry of Finance of Ireland.

In August last year, the European Commission on the results of the investigation came to the conclusion that Ireland has given an unjustified tax breaks for Apple, with the result that the country sustained a loss of 13 billion euros. Now the Corporation must return the unpaid taxes to the country in the period from 2003 to 2014.

The U.S. Senate began an investigation against Apple in 2013, when a report was submitted stating that the company has reduced the amount of tax payments around the world on tens of billions of dollars using a number of subsidiaries in Ireland. A year later, the EU began its own investigation.

In August, the European antitrust regulator has decided that the government of Ireland gave Apple illegal tax benefits and ordered the company to compensate the country of these funds. The Irish authorities and Apple in turn said that the appeal against the decision of the European Commission.
