In iOS 11.3 beta 1 Apple continues to rename its products and services, removing religious letter i. This time the changes affected the application iBooks. Now it’s just Books.

Apple gets rid of the letter i

Not so long ago the same thing happened with the music component of iTunes. Though the iTunes Store still exists. A new service for music called Apple Music and the application itself in which he works – Music. Probably after the final release of iOS 11.3 library iBooks Store will become Apple Books.

It should be noted that in Russian the Apple Music app called “Music”. Maybe later Books will be transferred and will be called “Books”.

The new scheme names of products and services appeared in 2014, when Apple announced the Apple Watch – a product that many have called the iWatch before its release. It was then that the name was included the name of the company. There is an opinion that the letter i disappears from the names of Apple products, because it has become too common. Many sites, repair workshops and stores were to claim it. Now these institutions and resources associated with the manufacturer of the iPhone, the head of the Corporation, apparently, not very much.

This letter quite a long history. The first product of the company with the letter i in the title appeared in 1984. It was an iMac computer. At that moment, the letter i meant the internet, and then somehow caught on and migrated to iPod, iPhone and iPad. Of course, such a known device the company is unlikely to be renamed, but to wait for the emergence of a new one with a similar name is not worth it.
