Apple has found a second manufacturer of computerized hours Apple Watch, reports DigiTimes, citing Economic Daily News. If at this point the Assembly of the device deals only with Quanta Computer, soon it will join Compal Electronics.
According to the publication, Compal will manufacture the Apple Watch, the first and second generations, the first stage supplying to Apple about 20-30% of the total.
At this point Compal establishes production plant in Kunshan in East China and soon will launch both models of the Apple Watch.
The second partner will allow Apple to increase production of smart hours, and lower prices for services Quanta Computer on the background of optimistic forecasts for sales of the Apple Watch. Compal will begin shipping the watch in the fourth quarter of this year.
Compal is the second largest ODM manufacturer of laptops. In recent years, the company actively expands the business, not associated with the production of laptops. In 2016, the company delivered more than 5 million wearable and IoT devices, and in 2017 plans to increase this production to 10-12 million units.
According to analysts, the Apple Watch will become the company’s main driver of growth in this area.
