Apple for the first time in 4 years updated Mac Pro and reduced the cost of the workstation

Apple announced the upgrade of workstations in the cylindrical housing of the Mac Pro. Since the presentation of the most powerful computers of the company, we will remind, it has been almost 4 years.

Apple left the previous Mac Pro design. The external cylindrical casing of the housing is made of aluminum it is dark brown, close to black colour, glossy coating, almost a mirror image. On one side there is a panel that gives access to the various interface connectors, a power button and connector.

Now in the basic configuration installed Mac Pro 6-core Intel Xeon processor with a clock frequency of 3.5 GHz and two AMD FirePro D500 with 3GB of GDDR5 memory (previously FirePro D300 with 2 GB VRAM), hard drive 256 GB, and 16 GB of RAM instead of 12 GB in the previous version.

The second model is built on Mac Pro 8-core Intel Xeon with 3.0 GHz and two FirePro D700 graphics cards with 6 GB of GDDR5 memory each, the volume of the flash drive and RAM is the same — 256 GB and 16 GB respectively.

In the configuration of the Mac Pro, as before, includes wireless modules Wi-Fi 802.11 ac and Bluetooth 4.0, six Thunderbolt 2 ports, four USB 3.0 ports, two Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI video output 1.4.

Also today, Apple has reduced the upgrade cost of the Mac Pro. Now paying for the basic version 140 000 rubles you can get a 12-core processor with a clock frequency of 2.7 GHz and 30 MB of cache memory. Another plus 84, 000 rubles, and the Mac Pro will get a 64 GB instead of 16 GB of RAM. Upgrade flash memory up to 1 TB will add to the cost of the machine 42 000 rubles. Thus, “Proshka” in the most expensive configuration will cost 520 000.

Previously, Apple senior Vice President Phil Schiller announced that the company is working on a completely new Mac Pro. His announcement is expected in 2018. Also along with it the company will introduce professional monitor under its own brand.
