Apple developed the HomePod 2012

In 2011 at the presentation of the iPhone 4s debuted with Siri voice assistant. A year later, Apple started working on HomePod. Since then, the project was several times suspended.

According to Bloomberg’s report, Apple has resumed the development of “smart” speakers after market launch Amazon Echo. The company’s engineers studied the gadget and came to the conclusion that existing practices is significantly superior to Echo for the sound quality.

Initially Apple had pinned high hopes on the HomePod and created a column for the competition from JBL, Harman Kardon and Bose. However, in 2014, the speaker received an official code name B238, and the development requested by the division that designs accessories.

Despite this, Apple has not coped with the task, and once again suspended the project due to a failure of design. On assurance of the source, one of the prototypes was 90 cm in height, and the second is too simple design. The company also considered a number of different colours and thought about the possible withdrawal HomePod on the market under the brand Beats.

The Corporation is not stopped, and after a long development presented HomePod at WWDC 2017 in San Jose. As expected, the device is a “smart” home assistant to support proprietary voice assistant.

It is reported that Apple plans to sell more than four million HomePod in 2018. Initially, the “smart” column was supposed to arrive on store shelves in December 2017, but the company has postponed the launch for 2018.
