Apple and Samsung underpaid Mikhalkov 2 billion

Remuneration fees of the Russian Union of rights holders (RBC), created by Nikita Mikhalkov, 2015 amounted to 2.18 billion, which is 18.4% lower than in 2014. It is reported by RNS.

The CPR collects the so-called author’s fee from the manufacturers and distributors of computer and other household appliances that allows you to play audio and video, as well as copied.

Author’s collection was introduced in 2010 and is 1% of the annual turnover of the manufacturer. It is known that money to the Union Mikhalkov dismissed companies such as Apple, Lenovo, Huawei, Samsung as well as the “big three” mobile operators (MTS, MegaFon, Beeline), selling equipment in their salons.

By the end of 2015 CPRS received from manufacturers and sellers of equipment are 2.18 billion, which is 18.4% less than the previous year. The reason for this is the decline in sales of new equipment despite the difficulties of the Russian economy.

The CPR transfers the collected funds to the leading rights holders, among them Universal Music, Sony Music and the Studio “Union” (just over 3 500 labels). In 2015 the company received from the Union Mikhalkov 1.5 billion rubles, the remaining funds RSP retained as compensation for the collection, distribution and payment of money (this point is stated in the Charter of the Union).

In autumn 2015, the Deputy head of the Union Andrey Krichevsky has informed that the Commission on accreditation recommended that the Ministry of culture to extend the accreditation of the CPRS to collect a “tax on the blanks” for another 10 years.
