Apple added in iOS 9.3 accounting of traffic uploaded using Wi-Fi Assist

Users of iOS 9.3 find all new features in the first test release of the new OS Apple. After user complaints on the increase of mobile traffic, in Cupertino decided to add the statistics for Wi-Fi mode Assist (“Help with Wi-Fi”).

The function “Help with Wi-Fi” appeared in the iOS 9 update. The features of this OS release is the ability to compare the throughput of your Internet connection by Wi-Fi and mobile networks. If the wireless network is not stable and quickly, the mobile device is able to switch to using mobile Internet – 3G or LTE.

Some users complain about the substantial increase in mobile data usage after upgrading to iOS 9. In particular, a blogger named Jim ray indicates that he replaced the increase in data usage with 1-2 GB to 7 GB after upgrading to the new OS and he is confident that the case in “Help with Wi-Fi”.

In October 2015 function caused a lawsuit to Apple. The company sued William Scott Phillips and Suzanne Schmidt Phillips, who accused iOS 9 the excessive consumption of mobile data traffic. The lawsuit alleges that because of the “Help with Wi-Fi” in the new Apple platform their expenses on mobile traffic exceeded $5 million.

In iOS 9.3 Cupertino decided to add the count of megabytes downloaded via the function “Help with Wi-Fi”. To do this, open the Settings app and go to Cellular and scroll down to “Help with Wi-Fi”. Now here presents statistics on Internet MB. If mobile traffic is big enough, you can always disable the specified function.
