Analysts: in the next 5 years Samsung will leave the market of smartphones

A well-known analyst Ben Bajarin made a disappointing forecast about the future of Samsung. He is convinced that in 5 years the South Korean brand will not exist in the smartphone market.

He believes that the Korean manufacturer was faced with the “innovator’s dilemma” described in the book the Harvard school Professor Clayton M. Christensen.

Pressure from Chinese vendors, such as Xiaomi, and Apple has led to a steady decline in the share of Samsung in the global smartphone market. In September it became known that the company plans to cut 10 percent of staff in its headquarters.

“Just good enough” competitors ‘ products were sold much better than Samsung at the expense of their more affordable cost. And the Korean manufacturer has nothing to do with the situation, because the market of smartphones and tablets has already formed a huge reservoir of users who prefer “good enough” and not premium products. Samsung’s aware of his position, which explains the intensified development of the Tizen OS.

At the same time, I am convinced Bajarin, this fate does not threaten Samsung’s main rival – Apple. The last is the only manufacturer of smartphones based on iOS. And she may not fear the invasion of companies that produce similar products at lower prices.

Previously, experts the experts of the investment Fund Oppenheimer said that the flagship smartphone Galaxy S6 has become the biggest mistake Samsung, continuing to pull the company to the bottom. The company hoped that the Galaxy S6 will spur sales, but in fact the market is watching the further decline of sales of South Korean smartphones with the simultaneous strengthening of positions of Apple and Chinese brands.

In Oppenheimer also came to the conclusion that Seoul has lost the right direction, and now they come on the heels of the Chinese vendors that offer similar solutions at more attractive prices.
