Analysts: Apple sold 3.9 million Apple Watch

Apple has sold about 3.9 million “smart” clock Apple Watch in the third quarter of 2015, which corresponds to 20% of the market of wearable devices. With such a forecast made on Friday, the Agency International Data Corporation (IDC).

First place the market holds the company Fitbit, which last quarter was prepared to sell 4.7 million fitness trackers (22.2% of the market) against 2.3 million units a year earlier. The company doubled deliveries through their models Fitbit Charge and Fitbit Surge, as well as continued growth in the Asia-Pacific region, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In addition, Fitbit is actively promoting its products in the corporate sector.

Key role in the rapid growth of the market was played by the appearance in the sale of Apple Watch, which allowed the company from Cupertino to take 18,6%, analysts say. Shipments of smart watches in July-September 2015 reached 3.9 million units. Analysts note that the greatest demand is the most affordable versions – Apple Watch Sport. Until the end of the year, according to the forecast of IDC, Apple sells 12 million Apple Watch.

Looks interesting progress of the Chinese Xiaomi, for the year increased shipments of wearable electronics directly on 815,4%. And, if in the III quarter of 2014 the company delivered only 0.4 million gadgets, it is now shipment to reach 3.7 million (17.4 per cent). In fourth place is Garmin (4,1%), the fifth little-known vendor XTC (3,1%), which was ahead of Samsung on 100 000 set of wearable devices. According to IDC, in the third quarter of 2015, global shipments of wearable devices (smart watches, fitness trackers, sporting the electronic bracelets, etc.) has reached 21 million units, which is 198% higher than a year earlier. These products in IDC are divided into two classes: basic and smart gadgets. Latest are support for installing third-party applications. Demand in both segments is growing in both the quarterly and annualized basis.

IDC believes that the market for wearable electronics is at an early stage of its development, which makes the competition more intense.
