Adobe announced support for the format HEIF in Lightroom and Camera Raw CC on MacOS

The ability to edit photos taken in the format of HEIF will appear in users Lightroom CC 2018 and Camera Raw in the new update on Macs.

Adobe announced an update of their programs that support high-performance graphics file format HEIF CC for Lightroom and Camera Raw. The opportunity to work with HEIF-images of the most popular applications for photo editing, but this is only the beginning, because Apple very quickly popularized the new format due to the huge number of users.

For the first time, Apple announced support for a new format to update iOS 11. Format HEIF allows you to save up to 50 percent of the memory the internal memory when I take photos on devices compatible with the new codec, due to more efficient data compression.

Shooting photos in the format of HEIF available on these Apple devices:

  • iPhone X;
  • iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus;
  • iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus;
  • The 10.5-inch iPad Pro;
  • 12.9-inch iPad Pro the second generation.

Adobe mobile application for iPhone and iPad still not received the support of the new format. It is expected that the opportunity to work with the format of HEIF will appear in the next update.
