Apple has begun selling iPhone XRs assembled at the Foxconn plant in the Indian city of Chennai. While they are available only in India, but, according to sources, Apple plans to export them to other countries, in particular, to the United States, which will avoid additional duties introduced during the trade war between the United States and China.

By launching the iPhone XR assembly in India, Apple can now sell last year’s smartphone in the country without import taxes. As a result, the iPhone XR fell in price from 77,000 rupees to 50,000 rupees (from 69,100 to 44,900 Russian rubles at the current rate). And the online store Amazon India offers an additional 10 percent discount and you can order a 64-gigabyte iPhone XR model there for 45,000 rupees or 40,400 rubles.

Recall that earlier another contract manufacturer – Winstron – assembled iPhone SE, iPhone 6 and iPhone 7 at its factory in Bangalore. But now most of these models have been discontinued.
