September 7, Apple introduced a new generation of iPhone smartphones. However, the rumors about the upcoming devices did not abate until the beginning of the presentation. Much of what I wrote about insiders and was hoping users was not confirmed.
1. Display with 2K resolution
In early August, the media reported on Apple’s plans to “pump” the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Supposedly, the model of the “sevens” will pass with resolution 1334×750 pixels at 1920 x 1080 and a larger version is 1920 x 1080 pixels receive the display panel 2560 x 1440 pixels.
However, the information turned out to be fake. While manufacturers of Android-smartphone went after ultra-high resolution, widely moving from Full HD to 2K, in Cupertino believe that smartphones with screen size up to 6 inches is sufficient for Full HD.
2. Wireless charging
Wireless charging was one of the most anticipated innovations in the iPhone 7. Sources believed that in order to charge the internal battery of the flagship is not necessary to connect the power cord: the smartphone will get energy while on company dock. the iPhone 7 is charged as before through the standard Lightning connector.
It is likely that wireless charging will be the innovation of the iPhone in 2017. Hypothetical Apple involves the rejection plate of the transmitter used by competitors, which does not allow to use electronic gadgets at a distance over 4 cm from the charging device. For iPhone do not need contact with the dock, and the radius of charge can be 2-3 meters.
3. The rejection of the Home button
Ahead of the official presentation of the iPhone 7 in the Network regularly appeared “spy” photos of the smartphone without a Home button. The authors argued that the main button of the smartphone is hidden behind protective glass, there will be a Touch ID sensor. This solution would reduce the overall size of the device and make the display “edge to edge”. It is not excluded that again Apple was saving this for the following models, which predict a radical redesign. In iPhone 7, the recall button stayed in place, but become a touch.
4. Dual SIM card
In June, the media reported that Apple is preparing three different versions of the iPhone 7, two of which are 4.7 – and 5.5-inch screen will be treated to a top line, and the third will be a budget option without the 3D Touch display and dual SIM card. Sources even showed pictures of double tray of your smartphone. In the emerging markets of Brazil, India and China demand a phone that combines two SIM cards.
However, Apple is not suitable for such a step: the company is more profitable to develop the Apple SIM, than to work on a special slot and software refinements for the second SIM card. And it really is a logical reason.
5. New blue color
Again, the insiders got it wrong. A new body color called Dark Blue, and Deep Blue was to replace the classical Space Gray. But the rumors were not confirmed: instead of “deep blue” Apple releases iPhone 7 in black matte and glossy Jet Black.
6. Refusal in favor of the Lightning USB C
In recent years, Apple has steadily reduced the number of interface connectors in the Mac. 13-inch MacBook Pro, released in 2012, there were eight, and thin MacBook Air sample 2015 for four. The new MacBook, there are only two: the 3.5 mm universal audio Jack and USB-C, which serves both for charging, data transfer and connection of monitors.
What USB-C is called the interface of the near future, which will soon be used extensively in all modern devices, replacing the current standards. The transition to the new connector Apple MacBook sparked rumors about the company’s plans to abandon Lightning. In the same favor, says one of Apple’s patents.
Despite many convincing arguments in favor of switching to universal USB-C, Apple’s still use iPhone proprietary Lightning connector. Using the native port gives more control over third-party manufacturers and allows to receive additional profit on accessories.
7. The transition to AMOLED displays
It is expected that Apple will put the iPhone 7 in AMOLED displays. Recently in the Network has repeatedly held information about the possible release of an iPhone with a screen of organic light-emitting diode. Last year, the publication Business Korea wrote that one of the largest manufacturers of such panels is negotiating the supplies with Apple. Apparently, Apple delayed the transition to AMOLED until next year.
