According to all-Russia centre of studying of public opinion (VTSIOM) and the Center for the study of global communications at Annenbergs school of communication at the University of Pennsylvania, almost half of Russians supported the introduction of Internet censorship. While 58% agree that in the event of national danger or the possibility of mass protests in Russia should completely disable. 73% of Russians against publishing negative information about civil servants. These figures are contained in the report entitled “What society wants: the desire of the Russians to control the Internet”.
According to VTSIOM, 42% of Russians regularly use the Internet are young and well educated people. 20% use the Internet regularly, up to several times a week. 38% use the Internet less frequently than once every six months. Usually do not use the Internet, older people without higher education.

81% of respondents have a negative attitude to the online calls for anti-government protests and the change in the political leadership of the country. 79% do not approve of sites and groups in social networks, which are used to organize anti-government rallies.
11% of Russians believe that the Internet should remain free from government censorship. 49% are in favour of censorship. 43% of respondents regularly use the Network, 57% do not use never.
40% of respondents believe that censorship is only needed for certain content, such as copyrighted material, foreign media, materials, causing national or racial enmity.
59% believe that the government should censor or block porn sites with gay content. 46% of the call control group in social networks used to organize anti-government rallies. 45% are in favour of locking videos group Pussy Riot. 43% would like to have blocked sites bloggers, “calling for regime change”.
