Samsung has announced the launch of Nougat 7.0 Android update for the flagship smartphone Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. It is noteworthy that the release of the final version for the South Korean device was held five months after officially starting the operating system.

Samsung has started testing Android 7.0 Nougat for flagship smartphones two months ago. To install the beta version was offered to pre-load app Galaxy Beta Program from the app store Galaxy Apps. Today, the beta users received a notification about the availability of final build of the new firmware. In different regions of the world update will debut in the coming days.

In August 2015, the update to Android 7.0 Nougat is now available for the “reference” Nexus, 5X, Nexus 6, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9, Nexus Player and Pixel C. All the rest have to rely on the quickness of Google’s partners. Samsung was not the first among those who moved the device to Android 7.0. So, HTC has released the Android 7.0 Nougat for the flagship HTC 10 3 months after the release of OS – in November last year

The main innovation of the “seven” is a multitasking split-screen mode. Smartphones and tablets will be able to display two applications on the screen simultaneously, and the programs for video playback will support mode “picture in picture”. Android 7.0 Nougat will bring on the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge new notification system and improved user interface.

Last year the new version of Android came out earlier than the update for iOS. Android now supports 400 original equipment manufacturers, 500 mobile operators and millions of developers. In terms of release date updates for end-users Android is still far behind iOS.
