TrendForce: in the first quarter, Apple has cut shipments of smartphones by 43.8%, to 42 million, Samsung – increased by 2.5%, to 81 million

The smartphone market has reached saturation point and global smartphone shipments yoy declined by 1.3% QoQ fell altogether 18.6%. According to TrendForce, the proportion of Samsung in the last quarter increased by 5.7% compared with the fourth quarter of 2015. In the first three months of 2016, she has put on the market of 81 million smartphones (+2,5%), thus she was able to take first place in the world market with a share of 27.8%. Apple was in second place, whose share declined from 20.9% in the fourth quarter of last year to 14.4% in the first quarter of this year. According to analysts, shipments of iPhone has decreased by 43.8%.

In total, Apple and Samsung have shipped 123 million smartphones. While Chinese manufacturers to circumvent the market leaders by the total volume of supply, putting 125 million units. Manufacturers from China, too, has reduced deliveries compared with the previous quarter, but less than the market had declined overall by 16%. As a result, their market share for the quarter increased from 41.5% to 42.9%.

In third place on shipments with a share of 9.3% is located Huawei. Companies Lenovo, Xiaomi and LG, owns a 5.8%, 5.5% and 5.1% of the market respectively. The remaining 32,1% of the market occupied by other manufacturers.

Experts TrendForce believes that Apple will not be able to rectify the situation. Total for the year will be shipped 213 million iPhones, which is 10% less than last year. Samsung’s analysts forecast the shipped 316 million smartphones, which is approximately equal to last year’s figure.
