The next generation processor Apple A10 will get high-performance graphics PowerVR 7XT Plus

At CES 2016, the company Imagination Technologies has introduced a new generation of graphics chips PowerVR 7XT Plus. This processor will be part of the single-chip systems of the future iPhone and iPad and will give “Apple” gadgets huge stock graphic power.

The current generation of gadgets iPhone 6s and iPad Air 2 is able to cope with any tasks, but their performance is not enough to run games with console level graphics. According to the creators, a new graphics processor significantly added to performance, efficiency, processing of different image formats, have received common improvements in the microarchitecture and optimization of heterogeneous computing architectures.

The new graphics chip offers all the key features of previous models, such as OpenGL ES 3.2. and feature hardware virtualization. The level of performance PowerVR 7XT Plus no equal on the market. This makes it the main contender for inclusion in the new Apple a10 processor, which will debut in the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

Note that single-chip platform Apple A8X used in the iPad Air second generation, complemented by a PowerVR graphics GXA6850. The Apple A9, in turn, includes a graphics chip PowerVR GT7600. In the latter part of the six cores with a frequency of 300 MHz and a maximum throughput of 115,2 GFlop/s (twice that of the previous generation). The results of testing the graphics in 3D Mark, GFBench T-Rex and Manhattan the iPhone 6s came out on the top of the rankings with huge margin from not only its predecessors iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, but also from all tested by the experts of Android devices, including top-end model of the Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 edge, Nexus 6 and HTC One M9.
