The history of macOS, showed in pictures

Operating system macOS was first introduced back in 2000. Improvement of the system is not stopped for all these years. Tproger presented a visual history of the development of the desktop platform Apple.

Cheetah, OS X 10.0 (03/2001)

The history of macOS began with the bear, not with wild cats (cheetah — Cheetah). In September of 2000, Apple presented Kodiak version (eng. bear). For $30 users can purchase the first beta of Mac OS X.

Official OS version 10.0, code named Cheetah, was released after 6 months. It was first introduced the Aqua interface and legacy applications TextEdit, Preview, Mail, and QuickTime.

The new OS X required at that time as many as 128 MB RAM and 800 MB of disk space.

Puma OS X 10.1 (09/2001 )

Tiger, OS X 10.4 (04/2005)

Leopard, OS X 10.5 (10/2007)

Yosemite, OS X 10.10 (10/2014)

Sierra, macOS 10.12 (09/2016)
