The Apple Watch last quarter took 80% of the market “smart” hours

In the last quarter Apple Watch again tested the pre-sales. There is little doubt that analysts ‘ forecasts have come true, and Apple managed to sell in the last quarter of the year no less than 5.2 million of the Apple Watch. Such assessments are analytical company Strategy Analytics, according to which, in total, in the last quarter of 2016, it sold 8.2 million “smart” hours.

Another analytical company Сanalys claims that total sales of “smart” watches in the past quarter exceeded 9 million units, which amounted to 6 million Apple Watch. The growth of sales of Apple Watch compared to the same quarter a year earlier, was 12%. Smart watch manufacturers have brought $2.6 billion revenue in the fourth quarter, taking about 80% of the market.

Of course, the sales share of hours in the total income of Apple is not so great. However, the advantages are obvious: the manufacturer receives additional income, is growing, to some extent, the number of smartphones sold, and is expanding the ecosystem of “Apple” products.

Analysts point out that overall Apple Watch sales for the year increased by 50% and amounted to 11.9 million units. If the company were smaller, the contribution of “smart” hours in the total revenue would have looked more substantial. On the background of iPhone sales volumes, the effect of hours is perceived sales, of course, in the least.

Xiaomi company shipped in the fourth quarter of 5.5 million fitness bands, the Mi Band, setting a new record, said Сanalys.
