According to the report, analysts of Consumer Intelligence Research Partners, sales of its flagship smartphone Apple – iPhone X – 20% of all iPhone sold in the U.S. in the fourth quarter of 2017.
CIRP finds that the new iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus X and iPhone accounted for 61% of total iPhone sales in the U.S. for the quarter:
- iPhone 8 — 24%
- iPhone 8 Plus — 17%
- iPhone X — 20%
“Sales of the three latest iPhone models, which account for 61%, represent a slightly smaller portion of total iPhone sales in the U.S. during the quarter than 72% of iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus years ago,” said Josh Lowitz, partner and co-founder of CIRP. “However, comparisons with the release of the previous generation is not quite correct due to the fact that iPhone X was not available during the quarter. Also, the range of the Apple a lot more than ever, as they now offer eight models. In addition, Apple released new smartphones in different times, presenting all three devices at once, but has delayed the release of the most advanced and expensive models – iPhone X – five weeks after the release of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus”.
“The old model also hold their positions,” – said Mike Levin, partner and co-founder of CIRP. “The number of sold iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus accounted for nearly a quarter of all sales in the quarter, while sales of two-year iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus to 8%. Apple put attractive price tags on older devices, given that the external differences in 6, 7 and 8 models not so much. Even compact iPhone SE has retained a significant share of total sales.”
“On the other hand, continue to receive recognition,” said Louis. “Plus there are three models make up 30% of the total number of iPhone sold, compared with 42% for the Plus models a year ago. The iPhone X has changed this ratio, because the size X iPhone is almost the same as the iPhone 8, but the screen “edge to edge” is actually larger than the screen of the iPhone 8 Plus. An additional 20% of iPhone buyers who purchased iPhone X, assume that more and more buyers of Apple smartphones think devices with large screens attractive.”
iPhone X was presented in September 2017 and is “jubilee” smartphone.
