Russian “Other”: in Russia began selling smartphone Inoi R7 to native OS

The Russian company “A” has announced the start of sales of smartphone Inoi R7 running Sailfish Mobile Rus – Russian operating system on the components of Sailfish OS.

The device itself is quite simple. It has 5-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, 8-megapixel main and 5 MP front cameras. In the presence of 2 GB of RAM and flash drive capacity of 16 GB. There is also a slot for memory cards microSD up to 64 GB. In the heart of the smartphone is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 with a 4-core processor and battery of 2500 mA·h Dimensions are 145,9 x 71,5 x 8.9 mm, weight — 145 grams.

Management Inoi R7 is carried out by means of gestures, therefore, under the display there are no mechanical or touch buttons.

The manufacturer claims that R7 is running on a Russian operating system Sailfish OS. However, OS is not a completely domestic development. Sailfish OS is owned by Finnish startup Jolla. In 2016 to Jolla joined the Russian company “Open mobile platform”.

The project is based on operating system MeeGo, which was used in Nokia smartphones and in 2012 the company decided to refuse. The platform seemed promising, so its developers have separated from the Finnish company, called themselves the Jolla and continued to develop the operating system, which was renamed the Sailfish.

5 September last year. Sailfish Mobile OS RUS was included in the Register of the Russian Ministry of communications, which state agencies are required to navigate the procurement BY, and at the end of 2016 received a certificate of the FSB’s requirements for data protection, not constituting a state secret.

Inoi R7 is available from online retailer Buyon.ru 11 990 rubles. In the “Other” hopes that the novelty will compete to foreign analogues and will be especially popular with those concerned with the safety of personal data.
