Roskomnadzor has not yet received a response from the administration Telegram, which will depend on whether the messenger blocking. This was stated by the head of Department Alexander Zharov on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg international economic forum (SPIEF).
Zharov said Roskomnadzor interested in including Telegram messenger in the registry of the organizers of the dissemination of information, not in the lock.
“Cooperation goes. Details I will not disclose. I hope that Telegram and other services that we have sent out an invitation for inclusion in the registry information, made the right decision,” he said.
The messenger Telegram created by Pavel Durov, founder of social network “Vkontakte”. Information on a possible ban of the product in Russia appeared at the end of may 2017.
Media reported that Roskomnadzor asked Telegram to provide information for inclusion in the register of the organizers of disseminating information. If the messenger doesn’t respond, then it is blocked. If Telegram will provide information, and Roskomnadzor will include it in the register, the company will be obliged to store and give at the request of law enforcement agencies the correspondence of users and crypto key to it.
As explained in Roskomnadzor, the decision to block depends on the version of messenger with the requirement to provide identifiers for inclusion in the register of the organizers of disseminating information.
Previously Pavel Durov said that the Russian authorities and the authorities of any other country, will not get information about users Telegram.
Alexander Zharov also said that Roskomnadzor continues negotiations with Facebook regarding the personal data storage in Russia in accordance with Russian legislation.
“Over the next month will be the next visit of the Facebook in Russia. One of the questions that I intend with them to discuss the issue of storing personal data of citizens on the territory of the Russian Federation”, – he said.
