Roskomnadzor has commented on the deletion of the LinkedIn application from App Store

Roskomnadzor has confirmed the appeal to Apple and Google with the requirement to remove from its online stores in Russia LinkedIn application. This told the press Secretary of Department Vadim Ampelonskiy.

According to Ambalangoda, preparation of official letters with the request to remove the social network from the App Store and Google Play lawyers and their approval took some time, so applications have been removed only in early 2017. The requirement about blocking of LinkedIn in Russia was made in November, the social networking application continued to operate normally.

Ampelonskiy said that Apple and Google have ordered for one month, which is fast enough for these large corporations.

About this requirement of Roskomnadzor became known on January 7th. Then it was reported that Apple and Google have received from the Russian authorities notice to remove an official LinkedIn client from the App Store and Google Play respectively. If the Agency decided to block LinkedIn in the App Store and Google Play, in the “black list” would have to be the IP addresses of Google and Apple, which means shops of these corporations ceased to work in Russia.

Now the app is missing in search results both stores in Russia. App Store when trying to download it via this direct link offers to switch from Russian to the store of another country.

LinkedIn has been blocked by the decision of Moscow city court on 10 November at the request of Roskomnadzor. About it the Ministry’s intention became known on 26 October. The reason for this decision is the failure of the social network of the requirements on the localization of personal data.

The court decision came into legal force on 17 November, when LinkedIn was included into the register of infringers of the law on personal data, Roskomnadzor. Recently, the social network said that in the coming months, Linkedin will decide on its further work on the Russian market and the localization data of Russian users.
