Record 2 GB/s SSD in the new 15-inch MacBook Pro is up to 2.5 times faster than its predecessors

One of the main improvements in the updated 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display has become the ultra-fast flash memory, the speed of which is up to 2.5 times faster than the previous generation. According to the calculations of the Apple, the capacity of the drive is increased to 2 Gbps.

In MacGeneration decided to check how true the claims of the manufacturer. The experts decided to test the performance of the flash drive in the base model 15-inch “prosci” with a 4-core Intel Core i7 2.2 GHz and Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.4 GHz, 16 GB RAM and SSD 256 GB.

The experiment confirmed Apple’s claims: in the benchmark QuickBench speed writing and reading has reached 1.25 Gbps and 2 Gbps, respectively. By estimations of observers, to copy a file larger 8,76 GB on a new 15-inch MacBook Pro takes only 14 to 32 against, with 12-inch MacBook with Retina display. With small files the transfer speed of data is increased even more — up to record gigabytes of data per second.

“Reviews of the new MacBook, updated 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display was simply incredible, so we are pleased to announce that the new Force Touch trackpad along with faster flash memory and batteries extended battery life models appear in the 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display,” commented the update Phil Schiller, senior Vice President of Apple’s worldwide product marketing.

The updated 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display is available through the Apple online store at the price of 139 990 rubles for the base model up to 172 990 rubles for the version with Intel Core i7 2.5 GHz, 16GB RAM, flash drive 512 GB graphics processor AMD Radeon R9 M370X.
