Pokémon GO will cease to work on older iPhone and iPad

Niantic recently announced that Pokémon GO will no longer work on iPhone 5/5C and older iPad, starting with the next update.

On 28 February, the game will only work on Apple products, which is available iOS 11. This means that it also will not run on the iPad 2/3/4, and iPad mini first generation. According to the company, older iPhone and iPad models is simply not enough power to run the next version of the game:

“In a future update Pokémon GO we will cease to support Apple devices not able to upgrade to iOS 11, such as iPhone 5 and iPhone 5c. Such limitation is a result of continuous improvements Pokémon GO. Thanks to them, the app is getting smarter, but the old operating system can no longer ensure the stable operation of the game. The amendment will come into force on 28 February 2018. After that date, coaches will no longer be able to log in to the account Pokémon GO on older devices, use your PokéCoins or other things in the Bags. They will need to switch to a supported tool to continue to play Pokémon GO”.

When you try to log into the game on the old smartphone or tablet after the update, a message will appear. It will inform the user about the need to move to a newer iPhone or iPad.

Last month, Niantic announced that it will use ARKit to support Hyper realistic Pokémon GO on iOS devices.
