On a bunk with the comfort: in the U.S., a tablet for prisoners

The company JPY, specializing in the production of products for the prisoners, spoke about the creation of the electronic tablet. From the idea to give the prisoners the iPad immediately refused – the possibility of modifying the device was severely limited. As a result, a special tablet called JP5mini.

The device with a diagonal of 4.3 inches has got dual core processor, a battery that provides up to 35 hours of music or 12 hours of video viewing, and shock-proof casing that can withstand a fall from 10 feet. The internal memory of the gadget, however, is not impressive – just 32 MB. According to the developers, this is done in order to avoid wrongful action on the part of prisoners. JP5mini running Android and allows you to listen to music, chat, watch movies and use the applications.

The tablet is designed primarily for remedial purposes. The developers plan to release a collection of specialized applications that will help prisoners to embark on the path of correction”.

Note that two years ago the Ministry of justice has prepared amendments, which allowed the prisoners in jail to use electronic devices.

The authors of the amendments established a number of restrictions on the use of gadgets. The device should not have access to the Internet, removable memory, photo and video camera and recorder. Also you can use only devices belonging to the jail. The issuance of gadgets prisoners in the modified order is not registered.
