New technology Sonovation will allow you to place a fingerprint scanner under the display on iPhone and iPad

The company Sonovation has developed a technology for the integration of the fingerprint scanner under the protective glass touch mobile devices. Experts believe that the development may find application in next generation of iPhone smartphones and iPad tablets.

Sonovation in the press release talked about the possibility of introducing the fingerprint sensor under the glass Gorilla glass, and not in the Home button, as in existing iPhone and iPad models. The described method of recognizing fingerprints assumes that the user may touch a finger to a particular area of your smartphone or tablet.

Development Sonovation enables recognition of fingerprints using glass, metal, plastic and other materials. The sensor is based on “advanced ultrasound technology”. Fingerprint module not only captures individual pattern on the fingertips, but also creates a detailed 3D model of the upper layers of the skin, which greatly reduces the risk of fake scanning results. In addition, the biometric model is designed to operate with a wet and greasy fingers, said in a statement.

Apple has long led the development in this direction. In February this year, the company received a patent for similar technology, from the description which follows that the display of the new iPhone and iPad will be able to perform the functions of the fingerprint sensor. In future developments of Apple intends to integrate Touch ID in the home button (like the iPhone 6/6 Plus, iPhone 5s, iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3), and directly into the display itself. In the description of the patent States that such a panel can simultaneously record up to four separate prints.

Like the development of Sonovation for the implementation of the technology, you will need to add in the display of the additional layer and the number of sensors. The first samples of these screens will be able to recognize fingerprints only in a certain area of the screen, but in the future Apple does not exclude that the active area may be the whole panel.
