New iMac cannot be used in TDM

Last week Apple updated its line of iMac monoblock with 27 inch 5K display and advanced hardware. Besides the obvious advantages an upgrade brought an obvious disadvantage. As it turned out, the top of the “Apple” candy bars are not suitable for use as an external monitor.

The alarm was sounded by the experts Forbes to find problems connecting a MacBook and iMac. The culprit was not a technical problem, and software ban on the display output. Conjecture was confirmed by the information on the official Apple website. In the iMac section of the company directly said on the incompatibility between ultra-high screen resolutions-ones, and the Thunderbolt interface.

“The iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, late 2014) and iMac (Retina 5k, 27-inch, mid 2015) cannot be used in the display mode,” – said on the Apple website.

Despite the common belief that few people use expensive monoblocks Apple as external displays, this variant of operation, it is the place. Such scenarios are common in corporate and creative environment. Often for employees in creative areas of the output image from the MacBook on the screen of a monoblock is simply necessary.
