In Russia came into force a law on compulsory registration of drones weighing more than 250 grams

5 July in Russia come into force amendments to the Air code, which introduced compulsory registration of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The law provides for the registration of drones weighing more than 250 grams.

The production of drones on the account will be engaged subordinated to the Ministry of transport enterprise “Zaschitainfotrans”, which has developed technology to identify drones with the technology of radio frequency identification tags (RFID).

RFID tags that are attached to the housing of the quadcopter when you register allow you to read information about the drone and its owner at a distance up to 300 meters.

In 2016, the Ministry of transport has published rules of registration of the UAV. They imply that the owners of drones needs to register the unit in the Federal air transport Agency and Federal security service, saying the technical characteristics of the device.

Under this law creates a legal basis for the use of UAV in air space of Russia. In the explanatory note to the law it was noted that the changes are intended “to improve the overall level of aviation security.”

If you change the owner or the equipment of a drone (such as its repair) will require re-registration. Industry representatives criticized the rules, stating that such limitations may be a barrier to its development. In particular, the owners of drones will not be able to transfer the devices to other individuals and will experience issues when buying devices, including toys and model airplanes.

Note that in the USA in may of this year the appellate court reversed the registration requirement drones. If this decree is not repealed, Americans will no longer have to register their drones in the Federal civil aviation Agency (FAA).
