The second beta iOS version 11.2 introduced a feature Apple Pay Cash. You can use it to send and receive money via iMessage, but also to pay for purchases virtual card Apple. It is reported 9to5Mac.
The function still works in the US and when you use two-factor authentication to sign in to Apple ID. The transfers work with all credit and debit cards added to Apple Pay.
