Google is preparing a new application Backup and Sync, which makes cloud-based Google Drive a complete tool for data backup. The new version of the client application called Backup and Sync will be released for macOS and Windows.
Instead of track changes only in one folder – related online storage, Backup and Sync will allow you to save to the cloud files from any directory on your Mac or PC.
For example, users will be able to put in the cloud a separate folder with documents or photographs, and, if desired, and the entire hard drive. The main thing that was suitable tariff plan with enough disk space.
Apparently, it will be able to open and edit some types of files that are located directly on the “Disk” as possible now. But will it be possible to synchronize data between multiple computers using a cloud service is still unknown.
In the statement, Google, the new app is aimed primarily at ordinary users and businesses yet it is recommended to continue to use the actual Google Drive.
Run Backup and Sync for Windows and macOS is scheduled for June 28.
