File system in iOS 10.3 APFS greatly improved the performance of iPhone and iPad

This week Apple released the first beta of iOS 10.3. The company decided not to publicize that the basis of the updated OS is a completely new file system Apple File System. In APFS supports almost all features of HFS+, but it more meets the requirements of “Apple” products. Thanks to the use of APFS to developers, Apple has managed to significantly improve the performance of iPhone and iPad.

File system APFS were presented at the conference Worldwide Developers conference (WWDC 2016) . It is optimized for flash and SSD drives, supports strong encryption, copy-on-write metadata, atomic primitives, cloning of files and directories, as well as “snapshots” of the system and many other features that will allow the gadgets to work faster.

Comparing the performance of iOS 10.3 beta 1 and iOS 10.2.1, conducted blogger iAppleBytes, demonstrates the superiority of the file system APFS. The new OS in all the tests turned out to be better than its predecessor. Particularly pleased with the download speed of the iPhone. Gadgets running a test operating system are included on the 3-7 seconds faster than the final iOS 10.2.1.

iOS 10.3 beta 1 was shown in synthetic tests. Feel the updated OS runs faster than iOS 10.2.1 when performing most tasks.
