Facebook bought the Belarusian company that created the application MSQRD

Facebook acquired the company-the developer of the app MSQRD and technology tracking persons, which enables you to modify human appearance during video chats in real-time. About it reports Business Insider, citing the main investor MSQRD Yuri Gursky. The transaction amount was not announced.

The application MSQRD imposes on the face of the user a variety of effects — make-up, moustache or emotions. You can “paint” yourself, for example, huge eyes, Stalin mustache or beard of Conchita Wurst. The company’s founders Newgen Eugene, Eugene Zatepyakin and Sergei Gonchar will go to work in the London office of Facebook. The transaction amount was not disclosed.

The project involves 11 people, 8 of them are in Belarus. The creators of technology — Sergei Gonchar and Eugene Zatepyakin — doing algorithm for tracking persons over the past five years. Yauheni nevgen joined the team to develop business strategy and implement the technology of “life.”

In his statement, the head of the nevgen said that while Facebook will deal with the integration of technology MSQRD, the application of the Belarusian company will continue its existence as a separate service. The developers also plan to add new features.

“We want to thank our investor and mentor Yuri Gursky, and Gagrin Capital — our trip would not have taken place without their support,” added Newgene.

The app appeared in the App Store in early December of last year. A few weeks after release MSQRD gained viral popularity on the Network and took first place in the ranking of the store in several countries. Currently the program occupies the top lines top 10 free apps for iPhone in the App Store in many countries. In early March released MSQRD for Android.
