Every fourth Android user in Europe switched to iPhone last quarter

Analysts Kantar released another study the distribution of shares of the mobile OS in different markets (only smartphones). From this it follows that in the last quarter 27% of Android users in Europe have abandoned their handsets in favor of the iPhone. In the U.S. defectors among the owners of the “phones” 9%.

Last time we shared statistics six months ago. During this time there have been some interesting changes. For example, if you take the European market, we can note that Android is rapidly losing ground. In the UK the share of the platform was reduced from 58.1% to 54.4%, in France from 75% to 69.9 percent, and in Germany – to 82.4% to 73.7%. At the same time, the share of iOS has increased from 29% to 32.7% in England, from 14.3% to 17% in France and from 9.5% to 15.2% in Germany.

“The declining market share of Android in Europe is provided by negative results in Germany, France and the UK,” says a senior analyst at Kantar Worldpanel ComTech Carolina Milanesi.

In China, Australia and Japan also lost Android position. The biggest decline was recorded in Australia, with the share of Google OS has decreased by 10.5%, while iOS grew by 7.9%. At the same time, the U.S. position OSes Apple not so much confident. During the year the proportion of the dropped 1.3 percent, while Android grew by 1.7%.

In all markets except Japanese and Spanish smartphone on Windows Phone jostle Android. In Italy, for example, the proportion infonow increased to 14.5% in the UK – up to 12%, France 12.6%, in Germany to 10.1%. In Spain and Japan WP-smartphones are still not very popular: last year, the percentage fell from 4.6% to 4% and from 0.5% to 0.1% respectively. In the USA there is an increase in the share of Windows Phone by 1.3% – now it is 3.8%.
