Apple Park receives solar energy from a nearby ranch

A friend of Steve jobs converted cattle ranch in the “solar” farm and will supply Apple Park organic energy, according to CNBC.

Steve Hurst owns the journal “Heart” and the historic ranch area of just over 60 thousand hectares. Land located on the border of the County of San Luis Obispo next to the Apple Park. Earlier they were used for breeding cattle, but recently the owners decided to build on the property the solar farm. Solar panels cover an area of slightly more than one thousand hectares. This is enough to fully provide electricity to not only the ranch itself, but also to sell surplus.

Steve Hurst personally knew Steve jobs, so Apple offered one of the best projects to supply Apple Park. For the construction of the solar farm is the company First Solar. In 2018 at the ranch will be further placed two and a half million solar panels. It will annually displace from atmosphere 109 000 tonnes of carbon dioxide.

Apple is recognized by Greenpeace as one of the most environmentally friendly. The company 83% overlap with renewable energy sources.
