Apple is working on a modular straps for Apple Watch

Apple plans to make “smart” not only the Apple Watch, but the straps for the wearable computer. This is, in particular, is evidenced by a pat ent filing published this week by the U.S. patent and trademark office (USPTO).

If you remove the standard strap of the Apple Watch, in its mounting location, you can discover the hidden six-slot, which Apple is silent on the details page of the gadget and in supporting documentation. This interface port will be used to create “smart” straps. At least, such conclusion can be drawn after studying a new patent application Apple.

In the patent titled “Modular functional straps for wearable devices” we’re talking about a new type of wristbands for Apple Watch. Such straps are composed of “active ingredients”, including the number of sensors and transducers. Apple gives the example of the strap with a backup battery which will charge the Apple Watch while wearing the gadget. In fact, this external battery for Apple hours.

Technology will make the straps of the Apple Watch and other features, such as the function of pressure measurement of the user and even to display additional information to a secondary display. The patent provides for a modular system of belts in which the users themselves can add to the wrist watch functions and capabilities needed in a particular situation.

Theoretically, more technologically advanced straps will improve the capabilities of the Apple Watch even after Apple released the second generation of smart watches.

I must say that we are not the first time we hear about “smart” Apple Watch straps.
